How to Apply for Forced Transfer Motor Vehicle Ownership

A forced transfer of motor vehicle ownership is a vehicle that is transferred to a new owner without the consent of the current owner. This application and affidavits are required by NTSA to transfer a motor vehicle to a purchaser where the registered owner is absent or cannot be traced.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the NTSA website and sign in to your account. If you don’t have an account, you can create one for free.
  2. Click on the “Motor Vehicle Registration” tab.
  3. Click on the “Apply for Forced Transfer Motor Vehicle” link.
  4. Enter the vehicle’s registration number.
  5. Select the reason for applying
  6. Fill in the required details.
  7. Upload in pdf your original logbook and plates (rear and front)
  8. Select your collection center, and enter the ID number of the person who will collect it.
  9. Make a payment of KES 3,050.
  10. Submit your application.

Forced Transfer Motor Vehicle Cost

The cost of applying for a Forced Transfer Motor Vehicle in Kenya is Ksh. 3,050 for private vehicles and Ksh. 15,050 for commercial vehicles. This fee is payable to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) at any of their offices.
