In order to pay your Resolution Insurance premiums with easy Resolution, Health Insurance has both a USSD code and an MPesa Paybill number at customers’ disposal.
The insurer is registered and licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA).
USSD code
The Insurance USSD code is *271#. To make payments for your insurance premiums all you need is a mobile phone with a Safaricom Mpesa line.
After you dial the code on your phone, select payments then select the policy cover you want to pay for – either motor, salvage, medical, or non-motor insurance cover.
Paybill Number
The Resolution Insurance Paybill no is 503100. To make payments for your insurance premiums follow the steps below;
- Go to mpesa menu
- Select lips na mpesa
- Enter business number 503100 (Insurance Paybill no.)
- Account number (enter motor vehicle registration number or Policy/member number)
- Enter the premium amount to pay
- Enter Mpesa PIN
- Confirm and submit
Resolution collapses
Resolution Insurance collapsed with over Sh6.5 billion in client cash, insurance claims, and creditor funds after its shareholders failed to recapitalize the business.
The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) said the insurer had collected Sh4.1 billion in premiums from policyholders out of which 90 percent were medical customers.
The firm also owed creditors and had claims from the insurance business totaling Sh2.5 billion, an indication of the long list of clients and suppliers eager to recover their funds from the failed insurer.
The Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF), which has taken over the firm as the statutory manager, said the company presented the liabilities to the regulator but it will conduct an independent audit to verify the actual size of the claims.
Meanwhile, cash flow problems saw the insurer’s cover rejected by some hospitals for late settlements of bills.
Clients poured out their frustrations on social media over their inability to access medical care as a result of their cards being rejected. Complaints piled at the regulator, with the company getting the second-highest number of reports as of June last year.
The IRA recently placed Resolution under statutory management because of its financial problems, stating that efforts to rescue the insurer, including injection of additional capital, had failed.
