Rema Biography: Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. He was born on May 1, 2000, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, which makes him 22 years old as of 2022. Rema was born into a Christian family and is the second child of his parents.

Rema’s mother is Mrs. Ikubor. Not much is known about her. In 2017, when Rema got home from Ghana, he bought his mother a 2020 Lexus RX 350.

Justice Ikubor is Rema’s father. A night after checking in with a woman in a hotel, he allegedly died. In a tweet on September 28, 2020, Rema leveled criticism at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the passing of his father, Justice Ikubor, a former party leader.

Rema’s family and losing his dad

Before his rise to prominence, Rema had lost his dad and elder brother.

At 17, Rema came back from Ghana and bought a 2010 Lexus RX 350 for his mom. Rema revealed that he worked at a beach to earn a living while in Ghana.

“At some point, things got hard, and I had to get brave…. I had to work hard because I lost my brother and my dad… I had to work hard.”

Rema attacked the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over his father’s demise, Justice Ikubor. The music star made this known and posted the tweet below on Monday, September 28, 2020.

Rema started his music career in 2018 after being discovered by D’Prince, a Nigerian musician, and signed to Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records. He gained prominence with his hit single “Iron Man” and has since released several successful tracks including “Dumebi,” “Lady,” “Bad Commando,” and “Beamer.”

Rema’s record label is Jonzing World, which is owned by D’Prince and affiliated with Mavin Records. He has also been associated with the American record label, Columbia Records, which he signed a distribution deal with in 2019.

Rema owns a GAC SUV as well, which he was awarded the spacious SUV after winning the 2019 Headies’ second-place prize. The GAC SUV’s 5.7-liter V8 engine provides better acceleration. The acceleration has given the GAC SUV additional power.
