Okiya Omtatah was elected as a senator for Busia County, but he did not allow the trappings of power to get to his head. The politician said he did not upgrade his official car to go home. While most of his colleagues went for the Toyota Land Cruiser, Okiya Omtatah’s car is a Nissan AD.

Another car belonging to the senator came forward unintentionally after having an accident while on their way to Busia. The senator said the oil truck lost control and hit his car before landing in a ditch. However, Omtatah’s car was the center of attention.
Why Okiya Omtatah Kept his Nissan Wingroad (AD)
The senator was driving a Nissan Wingroad at the time of the accident. Okiya Omtatah’s car, which are also known as Nissan AD, are one of the cheapest in the Kenyan market and are available at a price of less than KSh 600,000.
The Wingroad has two engines, a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder petrol, producing 105 and 126 horsepower respectively.

The larger engine returns a fuel economy of up to 14 km, while the smaller engine is rated at 17.2 km.
The 2014 model costs up to 600,000, while the 2017 model goes up to KSh 1.5 million. In an earlier interview with Spice FM, Omtatah said he hasn’t changed his lifestyle despite his new status.
