National Defence University Courses Offered

The National Defence University is one of a kind. There is no other of its caliber in East Africa. The institution is located in Lanet, Nakuru. It was established in 1992. It offers courses related to military Defence and security studies.

Likewise, it offers higher education to General Service Unit officers of Kenya and across the borders. According to Bizna Kenya, some awards granted in the institution are certificates, diplomas, and degrees.

Kenya has been in the lead in training security personnel and emerged first in Africa. This is the report by Citizen Digital. Kenya came up with the National Defence University, a staff college, and a National Defence College.

In 2000, it was relocated to Karen, and in 2002, it partnered with the University of Nairobi. The late Professor George Magoha granted it a charter in May 2021.

The president of Kenya, who is the Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces is the Chancellor and the Chief of Defence Forces is the chair of the University Council which makes major decisions.

The late Francis Ogolla was the chair but General Charles Kahariri who is the acting chief is the chair of the council at the moment.
