During his vetting, Trade, Investment, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria disclosed that he is worth approximately Ksh750 million.
The former Gatundu South MP made the revelation when he appeared before the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments for vetting in October 2022.
According to the outspoken Cabinet Secretary, his wealth comprises of real estate developments, shares held in unlisted companies in business concerns, manufacturing, fintech, and in the energy sector.
Moses Kuria Biography
Kuria joined the University of Nairobi (UoN) in 1990 and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Accounting in Finance.
He joined the job market later working for corporations such as Total Kenya among others between 1994 and 1995, before joining Standard Chartered Bank in 1995 where he worked until 1999.
In 1999, he moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to work for Al-Rajhi Bank where he worked for four years before leaving in 2003 to form a banking and financial sector consultancy firm.
He came back to Kenya in 2007 to take up a role in Mwai Kibaki’s government as a consultant, before later joining the then Minister for Trade, Uhuru Kenyatta, as his Technical Advisor on trade matters.

When Uhuru Kenyatta was transferred to the National Treasury as Minister for Finance, Kuria moved there also as his Technical Advisor, until his election as President in 2013.
In 2014, Kuria was elected the Gatundu South MP following the demise of the then MP Joseph Ngugi. He served for two terms until 2022 when he vied for Kiambu governorship unsuccessfully.

Moses Kuria Real Estate
Besides owning a number of undisclosed buildings in Nairobi and Kiambu, Kuria also owns the First Malawi building. He has also invested in the real estate sector abroad.
Fanaka TV
Kuria is the Chairman of Emerging Capital Holdings (ECH) which runs several businesses, including Fanaka TV, which is based at Bonafide House along Riverside Lane in Nairobi.
The station was launched in April 2017 as an entertainment station to provide jobs and other opportunities for young people mainly from his constituency.

In 2018, Kuria revealed that he owned a chopper that was being used by the then Deputy President and the current President William Ruto.
“I want to make some clarification after my remarks. I heard the principal say the DP’s chopper landed in the school field. It should be clear that the helicopter is not Ruto’s but mine. We have to speak the truth as Christians sometimes,” Kuria said.
Emerging Human Capital
Kuria is the founding director of Emerging Human Capital.
Earlier this year, he alleged that he had ceased to be a director of the company in 2018, although his name was still listed as a director by the registrar of companies.

Emerging Human Capital deals with the transportation of workers to the Middle East as well as other destinations.
“I was the Director of Emerging Human Capital, but we stopped operations five years ago,” Kuria said on Citizen Television.
“I exited the [human capital] business five years ago because of all these [human mistreatment] problems. I am, however, one person who would be happy to support any policy that says we stop migrant workers [from being flown to foreign nations that have a high prevalence of modern slavery],” said Kuria.
