Lang’ata legislator Felix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o, has stirred controversy by revealing Maina Kageni Salary – a prominent Kenyan radio presenter.
During an appearance on the Iko Nini podcast, Jalang’o discussed the salaries of Maina Kageni and Daniel Ndambuki, commonly known as King’ang’i, who host the popular breakfast show on Classic 105 FM.
Jalang’o stated that Kageni and Ndambuki were earning between KSh 2 to KSh 3 million each.
He explained that while he would personally cap Maina Kageni salary at KSh 2 million, the revenue generated from Kageni’s show is substantial.

“When Maina goes on air, there is a commercial on every break. Everything is sponsored. He makes the station around KSh 10 million in a day. Why not give him KSh 3 million because if he leaves, the money won’t be as good,” Jalang’o said.
He also mentioned that other prominent presenters like Gidi Gidi and Ghost Mulee are well-compensated.
Jalang’o highlighted Gidi Gidi’s affluent lifestyle, noting his impressive upcountry house and residence in the upscale Karen neighborhood, as evidence of the high earnings in the industry.
Jalang’o emphasized that the substantial salaries of these top presenters are a result of their hard work and consistency in their roles.
In a previous candid conversation with Kamene Goro, Maina Kageni confirmed that he earns over Sh2 million from his job at Classic 105 FM.
Being among the top paid presenters in Kenya, Maina attributed his success to his unwavering love for the job.
The broadcaster, who has over 20 years of experience in the media industry, stumbled into the profession by chance after being asked to pay Sh40,000 for a voice-over recording while booking an advert on Capital FM.
