How to check if a company is registered in Kenya
When checking whether a company is registered in Kenya, request a CR 12 form or letter. CR 12 comes from the Registrar of Companies in Kenya, indicating the details of a company’s directors and shareholders. Other information from the form includes:
- Respective shareholding.
- The company’s registered office address.
- Details of any debentures.
- Charges registered against the company.
Here is what to do:
- Go to the eCitizen login page.
- Sign in to your account using an email address, ID number, and password.
- You can also sign in with a Digital ID.
To sign in with Digital ID, you must have the eCitizen app. Then:
- Go to the eCitizen login page.
- Click to reveal a QR code.
- Open your eCitizen app.
- Tap on the QR icon on your home page.
- Scan the QR code on your desktop.
You must register an account on the eCitizen app for this to work.
How much does it cost to verify a company on eCitizen? It will cost you KES 650 to verify a company on eCitizen. The CR 12 form costs KES 600, and KES 50 is a convenience fee for accessing the eCitizen portal.
