In Kenya, diplomatic number plates are issued to vehicles used by foreign diplomats and consular officers. These number plates are white with black letters and start with the letters “CD” or “CC” (for diplomatic or consular corps, respectively), followed by a unique number.
Diplomatic number plates in Kenya are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade through the Diplomatic and Consular Services Division. The division is responsible for processing applications for diplomatic and consular status, as well as issuing identity cards and other documents to foreign diplomats and consular officers.
It’s worth noting that vehicles with diplomatic number plates in Kenya are exempt from certain taxes and customs duties, as well as some traffic regulations. However, these privileges do not extend to family members or staff of foreign diplomats and consular officers.
The number plates were assigned to the countries with embassies in Kenya in the order that they recognized Kenya’s independence.
