Building a two-bedroom house in Nairobi, for example, will be far more expensive than in Eldoret, Kisumu, Migori, or any of the other cities and towns in Kenya.

Due to the high cost of home construction, some people would rather rent a home than buy one. The opposite is true. Preparing the foundation is the only complicated part of building a house, and it can cost up to 20,000 Kenyan Shillings.

The following lists the minimum and recommended materials for constructing a Two-Bedroom House.

2. Three truckloads of River Sand cost 36,000 Kenyan Shillings ($12,000.

3. A load of hard rock stones will set you around 11,000 KSH for each lorry, round trip.

4. 80,000 KSH for 4 boards of timber and fascia. Dollars per Capita (DPC) Equals 12,000 Kenyan Shillings.
