Book Madaraka Express online: If you don’t want to incur charges imposed on the USSD code or you don’t have sufficient balance to use the USSD service, you can do your booking online via the KRC official website.
- Start by selecting the type of train you want to travel in (inter-county, Express, or Suswa).
- Choose where you are coming from and where you are headed
- Choose the date you wish to travel.
- Provide your departure time.
- Click Book a Train.
- Next, provide the number of adults, children 12 to 17 years, and children 3 to 11 years traveling.
- Provide your personal details (full name, ID or passport, gender, and nationality).
Keep in mind that sharing your personal identification is necessary for the process. Also, note that two adults cannot share the same ID.

- Select the Preferred train (Madaraka Express for the afternoon or SGR intercounty for morning travel)

- Indicate or select the travel date
- Select the coach type and indicate the number of passengers (Second Class or First class)
- Enter the passenger details (Full name, ID/Passport number, and Country)

Once you make the SGR online booking, you will get a confirmation message in which you will use the details to print the ticket at the respective station (departing station)
The final steps once you choose Pay to complete your online booking are as follows:
- Open the M-PESA Menu on your phone
- Select Lipa na Mpesa
- Select Paybill
- Key in KRC’s Paybill number 809888
- Key in Account Number 6809862
- Enter the amount, Ksh. 1,000 or Ksh. 3,000 depending on the class seat you want to book.
- Input your M-PESA PIN and wait for a confirmation message from M-PESA.
- Now, click the confirm payment button on the site.
That’s it you’ve just booked yourself a ticket on the SGR train via the KRC website.
