Alex Mwakideu is a Kenyan radio presenter who works for Milele FM and formerly worked at Radio Maisha. He also worked for the Mombasa-based Baraka FM.
He left the Mombasa Road-based media after 8 years and handed in his resignation to Head of Radio Tom Japanni sometime in June ending his long ties with the Standard Media Group.
He joined radio Maisha where he was later joined by Jalang’o.

Radio Presenter Alex Mwakideu Left Radio Maisha
Alex Mwakideu has now left Radio Maisha for greener pastures in what has been termed a media transfer window.
The radio presenter who has been working with the Standard Media Group for eight years broke the news on one of his social media handles.
“It’s been 8 awesome years and I will miss Radio Maisha. I will always remember ‘kuanzia’ the first day when we launched this radio station during my first show. It’s been a good ride! Let me say a huge Asante to the entire team of Radio Maisha and the Standard Media Group,” the message read.
Why Alex Mwakideu Quit Alcohol
Milele FM presenter Alex Mwakideu on Saturday, November 30 revealed the real reason why he doesn’t indulge in alcohol.
He made the revelation after he posted a photo of himself at The Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, and in the background, a tumbler could be seen on the table.
“Good Morning from The Norfork Hotel!!! But I am just here for a meeting then I head to Nanyuki! Sijalala huku nisiwadanganye bure jamani (I won’t lie that I spent the night here),” Mwakideu posted.
Curious fans quickly took note of the tumbler on the table suggesting that it contained alcohol. Mwakideu, however, responded by stating that he doesn’t drink liquor because of his mother.
Replying to one of his followers by the moniker Esther Ingolo, he stated, “Imagine niliwacha pombe kabisa… I did it for mom!”
Mwakideu revealed that his mother was an imposing figure in his life, always advising him on the dangers of alcohol.
“She used to tell me every day, she didn’t like the vibe. She always told me to stop drinking, it won’t help me in any way,” Mwakideu intimated.
The renowned radio presenter, who hosts Milele FM’s breakfast show alongside veteran comedian Jalang’o, lost his mother on May 21, 2019, four months after he lost his sister Eunice Mwakideu on January 11, 2019.
“So when she passed on this year, I told myself I will never drink again. I told myself I won’t cross into 2020 drinking,” he added.
Alex Mwakideu Quitting Milele FM
He called it quits at the Mediamax-owned radio station on 14 August 2023. He did not give reasons for his resignation. Mwakideu shared this message on social media,
“Yooooh! It’s been 5 years ndani ya Milele FM. Nime enjoy! Thank you all. Tuliipiga, na Ikapigika!! Page closed. Onto the next one. “
This comes barely a week after comedian Mulamwah left the station. Hours to his resignation, Mwakideu made an about turn saying he was not leaving the station.
“Yooh, bado niko Milele FM. Kumbe munanipenda hivi… aaawwweeee… Thank you for all the phone calls and text messages, we had a small misunderstanding, which has been sorted. So we are now good to go! Itambe Milele!” he shared on his Facebook page.
Alex Business
Apart from his radio job, he imported cars from Japan and sold them locally. He was introduced to the carwash business by his friend Steve Nyabwa who owns Shine and Sparkle carwash. He was pivotal in assisting him in setting up his business.
Alex Mwakideu now owns two carwash businesses in Athi-River and Syokimau both known as Pampered Rides car wash.

Alex Mwakideu’s salary is believed to be in the region of Kes 800,000. He is one of the highest-paid radio personalities.
